Moodbidri, May 29: A married woman and her alleged lover reportedly ended their lives by jumping into a well near Marakada in Badagumijaru village under Thenkamijaru gram panchayat limits on May 28.
The deceased have been identified as Namiksha Shetty (29) of Badagumijaru and her alleged lover Prashanth, a native of Nidodi and a driver by profession.
Namiksha was married and the mother of two sons. Her husband Satish is employed in Pune. Prashanth, originally from Bagalkote, was also married.
The two reportedly got acquainted through Instagram, and their friendship gradually developed into a romantic relationship. Sources suggest that a quarrel had recently broken out between them, but the exact reason behind the suspected suicide is yet to be ascertained.
Fire and emergency personnel retrieved the bodies from the well. Moodbidri inspector Sandesh P G has registered a case based on separate complaints filed by Namiksha’s father and Prashanth’s brother.
