New Delhi, May 25: In the 122nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a stirring address, highlighting the significance of Operation Sindoor as a reflection of India’s changing spirit and united stance against terrorism.
Opening with a tribute to the nation's armed forces, PM Modi said, “Operation Sindoor is not just a military mission; it is a picture of our resolve, courage, and a transforming India.” He emphasized that the precision strikes carried out by Indian forces against terror camps across the border have ignited a wave of patriotism across the country.
“In every corner of India — be it cities, towns, or villages — Tiranga Yatras were held. The tricolour flew high, carried by youth, families, and even children painting messages of unity and valour,” the PM shared. In a poignant example of this sentiment, he noted that newborns in places like Katihar (Bihar) and Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh) were named ‘Sindoor’ as a tribute to the operation.
Praising the bravery of Indian soldiers, PM Modi highlighted the role of indigenous defence technology. “Our soldiers fought bravely, backed by weapons and equipment made in India. This reflects the growing strength of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he remarked.
He further noted that Operation Sindoor has spurred a renewed spirit of Vocal for Local. “People are consciously choosing Indian-made products. A parent told me they will only buy Indian toys. Some families are now planning to celebrate weddings or holidays only within the country,” Modi added.
Shifting focus to environmental achievements, the Prime Minister lauded the rise in the Asiatic lion population in Gujarat's Gir forest — from 674 to 891 in five years. “This was no easy task. The Lion Census spanned 11 districts and 35,000 sq. km, with teams working round the clock,” he noted.
PM Modi celebrated the development in Maoist-affected Katejhari village of Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. “For the first time, a bus reached the village, greeted with drums and joy. This marks the beginning of transformation through connectivity,” he said.
Applauding women empowerment, the PM shared the story of women in Telangana’s Sangareddy district who are now flying drones to spray pesticides across 50 acres of farmland. “They are not just drone operators — they are sky warriors,” he beamed.
The Prime Minister spotlighted the Rising North East Summit and Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, celebrating talent from the region. He praised Dr Chewang Norbu Bhutia from Sikkim, who founded ‘Crafted Fibres’ — training locals in innovative weaving and helping build self-reliant communities.
In a proud moment for women’s participation in conservation, PM Modi shared that Gujarat has become the first state to appoint women forest officers on a large scale, strengthening wildlife protection.
Ending on an inspirational note, PM Modi shared the story of 65-year-old Jeevan Joshi from Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Despite being polio-stricken, Joshi pioneered an art form called ‘Baget’, using pine bark to create intricate artworks that reflect the essence of the hills.
PM Modi's address served as a tribute to India’s unity, courage, and growth — echoing the message that the nation is moving forward with strength, resilience, and pride.
