Mysuru, May 25: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday announced that an additional 184 Indira Canteens will soon be launched across the state. He was speaking after inaugurating nine Indira Canteens at Hinkal in the city.
Recalling the origins of the initiative, Siddaramaiah said, “During my previous tenure as chief minister, we launched Indira Canteens in 2017 to provide affordable meals to the poor, daily wage workers, and people visiting hospitals. We had invited Rahul Gandhi to inaugurate the first canteen. However, the initiative lost momentum under the subsequent government.”

He added, “Now that we are back in power, we are reviving the Indira Canteens. Today, we inaugurated canteens in Hinkal and are committed to opening 184 new canteens across Karnataka.”
