Mangaluru, May 21: Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) has announced admissions for its master of Library and Information Science (MLib ISc) programme, aiming to equip students with the necessary skills to excel in various information-centric roles.

The two-year postgraduate programme, structured over four semesters under the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS), offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. Students will engage in core courses, electives, internships, and dissertation work, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.



A university spokesperson highlighted, “Our MLib ISc programme is designed to meet the growing demand for qualified library and information science professionals in academic, public, and specialized libraries, as well as in research centres, publishing houses, museums, and corporate institutions.”

The department boasts qualified faculty, air-conditioned classrooms, a well-equipped computer lab, and tools for cataloguing and classification. Students will gain hands-on experience with digital libraries, library automation systems, and web-based information technologies, including training at the Yenepoya Central Library.

Eligibility: Graduates from any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from a recognised university are eligible to apply. Admissions are based on merit, following university guidelines.

• They are employed in academic libraries such as schools, colleges, universities, medical, engineering and other professional college libraries.

• The MLib ISc graduates are also employed in government libraries, public libraries and special libraries.

• They play a more significant role in the present information driven knowledge society. They are also employed in research & development centres, publishing industry and business houses, training centers of banks, National Museum and archives and NGOs.

• Library and information science graduates will be employed as assistant professor in universities/colleges
