Mini bus overturns in Tirupati after hitting divider; Kadaba woman dies, over 15 injured

Tirupati, May 15: A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday on the Tirupati–Srikalahasti highway, where a mini bus carrying pilgrims, including residents of Kaikamba in Bilinele, Kadaba taluk, overturned after hitting a divider. One woman lost her life, and over 15 others sustained injuries.

A group of pilgrims from Kaikamba in Bilinele village had departed from Gundya on Tuesday in a package tour bus bound for Tirupati.

On Wednesday, ahead of their scheduled darshan in Tirupati later that evening, the Karnataka pilgrims were en route to Srikalahasti in three mini buses. During the journey, the mini bus carrying the Bilinele Kaikamba group lost control while on a flyover, collided with a divider, and overturned three times.

In the incident, Sheshamma (70), wife of Koosappa, sustained severe injuries and later succumbed. Others injured include Tilaish (45) and Kamalakshi (60) from Kaikamba, who are in critical condition. Retired soldier Somashekar, Sheenappa, Koosappa, Nikhil, Tanush, and several others, over 15 in total, were also injured and have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
