Elderly woman succumbs to snake bite in Dharmasthala village

Beltangady, May 15: In a tragic incident reported from Narya in Dharmasthala village, a 68-year-old woman lost her life after being bitten by a poisonous snake on May 12.

The deceased has been identified as Shantha, a resident of Narya. According to sources, the incident occurred while she was washing clothes behind her house. A venomous snake is said to have bitten her on the little finger of her left hand.

Initially, family members resorted to traditional home remedies, following which she was shifted to a private hospital in Ujire for further treatment. However, despite medical efforts, Shantha reportedly failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last on Tuesday.
