Mangaluru: Strict action if false news or misinformation is spread – Dinesh Gundu Rao

Mangaluru, May 11: In the wake of the tense situation between India and Pakistan, those who spread misinformation or fake news on social media will face strict action, said district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. He asserted that such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he said, "We must support and boost the morale of our soldiers. When it comes to national matters, we all stand united."

Responding to a question regarding the murder case of Suhas Shetty, the minister said that the police have arrested the accused and are conducting a proper investigation. "Whether the case should be handed over to the NIA is something that needs to be considered. The police have already traced the origin of the incident and are investigating if others are involved. The BJP is demanding an NIA probe, and the government will take a decision on this. If BJP leaders have any specific information, let them provide it — the police will take appropriate action. But we will not respond to mere speculation," he said.

Reacting to MLA Harish Poonja's remarks, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, "An FIR has been registered in connection with his statement, and there is no stay order on it. A cultured person would not have made such a statement. His vulgar attitude is a reflection of his personality. There is no need to respond to such remarks."
