New Delhi, May 10: In response to rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, the Group of Seven (G7) nations has urged both countries to exercise maximum restraint and pursue immediate de-escalation through dialogue.

The appeal comes amid an intensifying confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, which the G7 warns could severely threaten regional stability.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and expressed concern over the potential for further conflict.

“We strongly condemn the egregious terrorist attack and urge both sides to avoid further escalation,” the statement read. “We are deeply concerned for the safety of civilians and call for direct dialogue to ensure a peaceful resolution.”

The G7 reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring the situation and supporting efforts aimed at achieving lasting diplomatic peace in the region.
