India thwarts massive drone attack by Pakistan, strikes back on air defence sites

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, May 9: India successfully repelled a major drone attack launched by Pakistan overnight, involving over 300 drones across 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek. The Indian Armed Forces neutralised multiple drones targeting military installations using advanced missile defence systems and anti-drone tech.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that an armed UAV aimed at the Bhatinda military station was intercepted. In retaliation, India deployed armed drones and destroyed a radar at one of four targeted Pakistani air defence sites.

The escalation follows India’s Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Indian defences protected key bases in Srinagar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Bhuj, and others.

Meanwhile, Ambala district in Haryana, home to a major airbase, imposed a night-time blackout from 8 pm to 6 am to prevent visibility for potential attacks. Authorities have banned all outdoor lighting until further notice.
