Udupi, May 9: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Muslims across Udupi offered special prayers at mosques on Friday, seeking peace and national well-being. Following the traditional Jumma Namaz (Friday congregational prayer), duas (supplications) were offered by religious leaders and community members for the safety and prosperity of the nation.

Community leader Iqbal Manna addressed the media, emphasising unity and patriotism. “After the Pahalgam attack, India gave a fitting reply to Pakistan. If needed, India can act within half an hour,” he remarked, hinting at the nation's military readiness.

He added, “Pakistan's repeated provocations will not be tolerated. At this critical time, we are turning to God in prayer. We have also received guidance from the Wakf Board, but even before that, we had resolved to pray for peace and the well-being of the country.”

Muslims across the district gathered in mosques with a shared message that let the country swiftly return to peace and stability. The prayers were not just for safety from conflict but for harmony among all communities.
