New Delhi, May 9: In the wake of escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border, defence minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level security review meeting on Friday with the top brass of India’s armed forces, following Pakistan’s failed attempts to strike Indian military installations.
The closed-door meeting, held in the national capital, was attended by chief of defence staff general Anil Chauhan, army chief general Upendra Dwivedi, air chief Marshal AP Singh, and navy chief admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.

Sources informed that a comprehensive assessment of the rapidly evolving security landscape was undertaken, particularly after Indian forces successfully neutralised missile and drone attacks launched by Pakistan targeting key military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and several other strategic locations.
"The Indian Armed Forces responded swiftly and effectively, thwarting the enemy’s efforts and ensuring no damage to installations or personnel," a senior defence official stated. The Defence Ministry reiterated India’s unwavering preparedness, asserting, “India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.”
The fresh provocation by Pakistan, coming barely a day after a similar offensive, reportedly involved attempts to strike as many as 15 military sites including those in Awantipora, Srinagar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bhuj, and Chandigarh.
Amid this hostile backdrop, the Defence Minister’s review with the military leadership is seen as a critical step in bolstering preparedness and refining strategic responses. While tensions continue to mount, the Indian defence establishment has affirmed its commitment to national security and peace through strength.
