Jammu, May 9: In a significant security development amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions, the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a major infiltration attempt along the International Border in the Samba sector of Jammu region, killing at least seven terrorists in a swift overnight operation.
According to an official BSF statement, “During the intervening night of May 8-9, a large group of terrorists attempted to infiltrate through the Samba Sector, but their movement was picked up by our surveillance grid. Alert troops immediately responded with precision firing, successfully neutralising the threat.”

The BSF further disclosed that the infiltration bid was being supported by covering fire from across the border, specifically from the Pakistan Rangers’ Dhandhar post. In retaliation, Indian forces returned fire, inflicting extensive damage to the Pakistani post.
The Samba sector, situated strategically south of Jammu, has witnessed a surge in ceasefire violations, cross-border firing, and drone sightings in recent days. Security forces have been on high alert, especially with the region’s proximity to the crucial Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
This incident comes amid a wider escalation along the India-Pakistan border, with increased military activity, precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, and intensified internal security measures across northern India.
With the latest development, security has been further beefed up along the Samba belt, and patrolling intensified to thwart any further attempts of cross-border terrorism.
