Mangaluru, May 8: Law and order in Dakshina Kannada has returned to normal following recent disturbances, officials confirmed during a high-level review meeting chaired by Karnataka legislative assembly speaker U T Khader and district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Thursday.
The meeting, held via video conference, brought together senior officials including deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan, zilla panchayat CEO Dr K Anand, city police commissioner Anupam Agarwal, DCP Siddharth Goyal, and other senior police personnel.


Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao emphasized that public safety is the government's top priority. He directed officials to take stringent action against anyone attempting to disrupt peace and communal harmony. “There is no need to yield to any pressure,” he asserted, calling for extended deployment of additional security personnel for some more time.
Providing an update on the situation, police commissioner Anupam Agarwal stated that the district had returned to normalcy. Police officials are conducting regular evening patrols in all station limits, and additional forces including personnel from other districts and KSRP units have been deployed to ensure continued security.
DCP Siddharth Goyal said that authorities are closely monitoring social media platforms for inflammatory content, and action is being taken against those spreading provocative messages. Surveillance has also been intensified on individuals with a criminal background.
Senior police officer Yatish confirmed that law and order across the district remains under control, with constant vigilance maintained in all police station jurisdictions.
The review underscored the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and creating a sense of security among the public in the wake of recent events.
