Wall construction along Zuari River halted, TCP issues stop-work notice

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, May 1: The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department has ordered M/s Goan Hotels and Realty Pvt Ltd to halt construction of a wall along the Zuari riverbank at Bambolim, citing environmental concerns.

The wall, meant to prevent soil erosion, was being built based on earlier technical clearance, which has now been revoked. The decision follows a stop-work cum show-cause notice issued by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA).

TCP deputy town planner Prakash P Bandodkar confirmed the order, stating that the directive from GCZMA prompted immediate withdrawal of the company’s clearance and a directive to stop all ongoing work on the site.
