Mangaluru, May 6: Dakshina Kannada district women Congress members held a protest on Monday, calling for the arrest of MP Prajwal Revanna who is accused in the sex video scandal.

Women who participated in the protest that was held in front of Congress office at Mallikatta under the leadership of president of DK district unit of Women Congress Shalet Pinto raised slogans of “Arrest Prajwal, provide justice to women.”

Addressing the protesters, Shalet Pinto said, “Though BJP had prior information of Prajwal’s sexual assault matter, they gave him a Lok Sabha ticket to contest the election. In addition, BJP led by PM Modi is trying to protect him. Where are those who raised slogans of Beti Bachao? Why is BJP not speaking on this subject?"

“Former chief minister Kumaraswamy gave a statement saying that women will go astray due to the guarantees of Congress. But it is JD(S) leaders who have misled the society. They have punished countless women and girls through the worst crime committed against them. They have destroyed the families of these women and girls. Prajwal should be immediately arrested and stringent punishment should be given to him," she added.

“If a country has to be secure, the women of that country have to be protected first. It is not possible by BJP and its ally JD(S). Protection of the country is done only by Congress,” she said.

Shantala Gatty, Shashikala, Tanveer Shah, Sarika Poojary and Shahul Hamid were present.
