Mangaluru, Feb 13: In a heart-warming tribute on the occasion of Consecrated Women’s Day, the Women’s Commission of the Mangalore diocese orchestrated the ‘Kindred Spirit celebration'. The event, held with the primary purpose of expressing profound gratitude towards religious sisters for their unwavering service to the church and community.
The notable figures included Fr Faustine Lobo, coordinator of all 21 commissions Mangalore Diocese, Fr Melwin J Pinto Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Roy Castelino, PRO, Mangalore diocese, Anita Frank, secretary of the women’s commission, and sisters Sr Maria Prem AC, Sr Julie, and Sr Preema.
Fr Melwin delivered a poignant speech, shedding light on the pivotal but often uncelebrated role of sisters in steering the church. Despite navigating challenging circumstances, he expressed gratitude for their unyielding dedication and lauded the women’s commission for orchestrating the significant event.
Fr Faustine echoed these sentiments, recognizing the sisters as global humanitarians dedicated to serving the marginalized. Anita Frank, in her keynote address, portrayed the consecrated women as living embodiments of sacrifice, love, and service. She emphasized that the celebration extended beyond acknowledging their roles, delving into the essence of their identity.
Roy Castelino added his appreciation for the sisters’ love, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. The event saw representatives from various congregations being honoured with mementos, further recognizing their collective contributions.
Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangaluru, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the sisters for their dedicated service through a thoughtful video message, expressing gratitude for their valuable contributions.
Sr Marie Prem AC, congratulates the executive committee of women’s’ commission for the well-organized programme, which also included engaging fun games conducted by Usha Fernandes and Linet Castelino. The programme commenced with a warm welcome from Mercy Menezes setting the tone for the celebration.
Anita Lobo delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the collaborative efforts that made the event possible. Renisha Viegas compered the programme.
Fr Rupesh Madtha celebrated mass with a meaningful homily, and the programme wrapped up on a joyous note with a shared lunch, fostering a sense of camaraderie and appreciation among all participants.
