Kundapur: State govt’s ‘Holapu-2024’ programme held

Kundapur, Feb 10: “It is possible to see Indian culture and harmony in Panchayat system. Inspite of tremendous work pressure, the panchayat strives to listen to the issues of commoners and find a solution. Holapu is a good forum for the Panchayat representatives and personnel of local bodies to showcase their sport and cultural talent,” said U T Khader, speaker of Karnataka legislative assembly.

Khader was speaking after inaugurating the Holapu-2024 Dibbana programme of state government at the campus of Kota Viveka Vidya educational institute.

Khader further said, “All the pressure of work and mind will go away if one gets involved in sport. Local bodies have more responsibility. The issues faced by the panchayat employees will be brought to the attention of the government. Let us all work unitedly.

“Gram panchayat members should do more study and gather information. They can also view the session of legislative assembly by registering before hand.”

MLA Suresh Shetty hoisted the sport flag. Dr M N Rajendra lighted the sport lamp. Kishore Alva, MD of Adani power group flagged off the sport event by releasing balloons in the air. MLA Dr Bharat Y Shetty administered the oath. Kotathattu gram panchayat president Satish Kunder presided.

MLAs Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Gururaja Shetty Gantihole, Jayaprakash Hegde, promoter of G Shankar family trust Dr G Shankar, Kundapur taluk panchayat raj federation president Udaya Kumar Shetty Adikekoodlu, former administrative director of Kollur temple Keradi Chandrashekhara Shetty, taluk panchayat CEO H V Ibrahimpur, Ganesh Kini of Belve Ganesh Cashew industries, Manjunatha Upadhyaya of Kota Viveka educational institute, Devadasa Navada, Kishore Kumar Kundapur, Belapu Deviprasad Shetty, Geetanjali Suvarna, Shyamala Kundar, Nayana Ganesh, U S Shenoy and Pooja Pai were present.

Kaup town municipality bagged the first place in the march past. Yadthadi gram panchayat was second. U T Khader presented the awards.

Ananda C Kundar, honorary president of Shivarama Karanta award foundation welcomed the gathering. Kota Srinivas Poojary, convener of Holapu programme and leader of opposition of Karnataka legislative council did the introductory speech. Harish Shetty read the list. Narendra Kumar Gangolli compered the event. Satish Vaddarse coordinated the sports events.
