Mangaluru, Jun 8: The issue of streetlights and lack of proper road at Pachanady near the sewage treatment plant is a huge problem faced by the pedestrians and motorists in this area.

The incomplete road work is making it difficult for the public to travel. Pedestrians are finding it tough to walk on the road without proper streetlights. As there are no streetlights, there is much possibility of people being attacked by the animals in the middle of the dense forest.

Speaking to Daijiworld.com, a local from Moodushedde who chose to be anonymous said, “As I work at Bajpe, the usual route I travel is through Pachanady. It is very difficult for us to travel in the night through this way. Firstly, it is an interior place which should be more taken care of, there are no streetlights and the one streetlight at the beginning of the road is not in working condition. When we travel from these location, at certain times we see different animals. The entire area is covered with dense forest. I have seen a lot of snakes, pigs and monkeys here. During the day time, we do not face much problems, but in the night there are chances to be attacked by the wild animals. At times, I have also chosen to change my route because of these kinds of issues. Also, there are many pedestrians walking from this route. It is still more dangerous for them to walk without streetlights here. I would request MLA Bharath Shetty to take a step to install streetlights here at the earliest.”

A resident of Pachanady said, “A lot of issues trouble the users of this road which connects Manjalpade to Moodushedde. The road is however not good and in addition, streetlights are not installed. We had a good motorable road earlier. The underground pipeline construction work has led to this situation. During the monsoon, the issues increase. No action has been even taken. Quick measures are the need of the hour.”
