Mangaluru, Jun 6: Several like-minded organization, Catholic Sabha Mangaluru and United Christian Forum Mangaluru held a rally ‘Peace be in Manipur’ showing solidarity to people suffering in Manipur due to unrest in the state. Many took part in large numbers in the rally at the Clock Tower on Tuesday June 6.

The gathering made an appeal to the government to do everything possible to restore peace and help the affected people.

PRO of Mangalore diocese Roy Castelino said, “We strongly condemn the atrocities over people at Manipur. So far, 98 people have lost their lives in the unrest, houses, schools and churches have been destroyed. Caste politics is just a reason, but there is a conspiracy behind the unrest. Why police are silent when there is so much chaos and destruction of public property. We demand the issue to be solved and justice to be delivered.” He also briefed about the reason which led to the unrest in Manipur.

Parish priest of Immaculate Conception Church Kinnigoli, Fr Faustine Lobo said, “The government and elected representatives have failed to protect people and failed to implement law. This is equal to the government encouraging the unrest. As public, we have the right to question the government. Home minister Amit Shah visited Manipur after 27 days of unrest. What was the need of visiting the place so many days after the destruction? Prime Minister Narendra Modi is silent and busy in election campaigning as his only intention is to win the elections and not to work for people.”

People were seen holding placards urging the need of intervention of central government to resolve the issue, stop genocide and many more.

DYFI leader Muneer Katipalla, provincial superior Sr Cecilia Mendonca, president Mangaluru Pradesh Catholic Sabha Stany Lobo, PRO Mangalore diocese Fr JB Saldanha, Fr Maxim Noronha, Norine Pinto, ICYM president Anil Sequeira and others were present.

Current figures show 98 people dead and over 35,000 forced to leave their homes to escape the violance. Why am I not surprised to see that the government in charge in Manipur is the BJP. Looks like the "Brainwashing Hindus to turn against their own brothers" strategy backfired for the RSS in Manipur. The strategy only works until you win the election then you need to dial it down and hammer down on the defaulters with a stern hand. But I guess you can't just copy paste the same thing everywhere. I would have hoped that the RSS would have learned from thier mistakes in the 2002 riots, but here we are. Also why these people doing a protest on a tuesday at 3 PM, evryone is at work at that time. They should have done it on a sunday or atleast later in the evening after 5 pm. Where is the faith in the cause? I commend them for doing the protest but they shoud have done it on sunday. I guess faith is just harder to come by these days, especially in the "faithfuls".

India's FM & PM took up the matter with their British and Australian counter parts when the Indian Embassy and some temples were attached by Khalistani sympathisers. However, when India (Manipur) continues to burn for two weeks now and the violence just does not seem to end, why doesn't the government do all what it takes to STOP the violence unleashed upon the Christians in this politically sensitive state?

Why play with God's wrath in disasters, calamities, accidents, famine... As all are children of God wheather Kukis or Meiteis or anybody else. All land belongs to God, All are tenants here on earth may be 70 or more years. According to one's karma next life in heaven or hell. So always charity, sharing and caring, brotherly attitude is the better choice to practise for everyone to be always peaceful in mind and heart and gain everlasting life as human Soul is Eternal (and when Soul is healthy, body will also be healthy.)

will lose next election same like karnataka. Too much is not good to destroy human peace. God is watching. Too much drama and too much show around the world will not make you hero’s. Destruction of peaceful peoples lives and schools and worship places is not a good thing for any government involvement and support them keep doing further harm. It’s a shame. I feel for all these priest and nuns asking government to stop the atrocities at manipur whereas it is a government job to do it without asking . Modi as a PM listen to these educated priests and nuns before it get too bad. It’s your job man.

Solidarity from familiar quarters with familiar agenda. When will we learn from History? What is the point of spreading the gospel when those from where it originated are giving up on it? Participants, speakers and their visuals are a treat to our eyes whilst they assist us in identifying the true problem.

Spreading the Gospel is million times better than spreading hatred. Spreading the messages of peace from any religious books of any religion is million times better than taking the curse of blood,

Mr. Mayya, the solidarity expressed here is to restore peace which has been destroyed by anti constitutional forces for their communal agenda under the guise of making new policies. The agendas of communal hatred is being spread every where in the quest of making the nation as hindu rastra. A hand might have given up the Gospel for their own reasons or due to the efforts of those who do not want it to spread. However, you must know that in multiple folds people have been accepting Gospel , it's principles or truth in one form or other and majority of them are from your own community. The communal hatred mindset always perceive that any protest against them is a problem for the country just as Golwalkar mentioned in his Bunch of thoughts . The communal hatred mind set is always worried about the fact that the scriptures which their community follows donot give power of peace and love what Gospel gives to the world and mankind.
