Mangaluru, Apr 4: Activists of DYFI threw the gates that were installed on the Harekala bridge, with the help of the public, and made the bridge open for traffic movement.

The work of the bridge was completed four months ago and it was said that the bridge will be open to traffic from April 1.

However, due to no order from the small irrigation department and stay order from court, the bridge was not opened to the public.

Though officials had come to the bridge on Monday with ash gourd to open it for commuting, they did not do the same due to election code of conduct. Harekala DYFI unit, which got frustrated over these developments, had submitted an appeal to DC on Monday. On the morning of Tuesday, DYFI activists along with general public, threw the gates that were kept as block to the bridge and made the bridge open for vehicle movement.

BJP or Modi can be easily ousted in our State and even at National Level . However, the biggest issue is , as on date there is no credible opposition to take on the ruling party. The one who is in the forefront and projected to take on the BJP has not been successfull in the past decade with only a string of defeats to credit. From the above article is very apparent that other opposition parties who believe in action , should be given a chance and elected to power. Who wants a press conference briefing and listen to some xhit, when action is the need of the hour! Credible leaders in other opposition parties should be given a chance. If not its just history repeating itself. You cannot blame EVM all the time.

Irrespective of any party affiliation , I side this move and say that, this is how opposition parties have to support the public. Not by calling 'press conferences' and being 'internet karsevaks' online. Anybody can be a tiger with pseudo id!

Very Good move by the DYFI. Appreciate this! Actions is better than words. Its very easy to call a press conference and start blaming Chaiwala and BJP! with their Chelas resorting to the same on online forums with fake ids. I hope they learn something here.

Though it is against the law this bridge is built with the funds of tax payers money and it is for the benefit of the people. Locking it up for 4 months depriving people of its use itself is illegal waiting for some politician to cut the tape to garner credit. Better to be proactive and make our politicians on their toes to be answerable to the people first rather than party first.
