Udupi: Manipal Institute of Technology organizes two-day National Conference

Udupi, Dec 6: Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) organised the tenth national conference on Condensed Matter Physics and Applications (CMPA). The conference was held at the Sir M V Seminar Hall, MIT, Manipal, on December 2 and 3. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor, MAHE, Manipal on December 2, later the event was presided over by Cdr Dr Anil Rana, director, MIT, Manipal. Dr N S Vidhyadhiraja, professor and dean, JNCASR, Bengaluru and Rama Naik, general manager, of Canara Bank, was the guest of honor at the inaugural event.

The two-day National Conference was sponsored by the Science and Engineering Board, Government of India, DST-SERB, on Condensed Matter Physics and Applications (CMPA) at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal. This year’s special theme was 'Materials for Environmental Sustainability'.

Speaking about the conference, chief guest Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor, MAHE said, “This thematic conference aims to promote knowledge among students and researchers in the area of physics, environmental sustainability, semiconductor devices, and much more. Looking at the responses from the students, physics faculty, and researchers across various countries who had immensely enjoyed participating in this event have been truly outstanding. Kudos to the participating teams, it was indeed a very insightful event."

Cdr Dr Anil Rana, director, MIT, Manipal said, “This is an extremely proud moment for us CMPA 2022 has been a huge success. It was a great learning for all of us from crystal growth to characterization, and spintronics materials every exciting topic was covered in this event.

Since its inception 9 years ago, this annual series of conferences have attracted delegates and researchers from various parts of the country. About 200 Physics faculty, students, and research scholars from institutes and universities across the country participated in the 2022 edition. During these two days, there were six invited talks and 110 research papers in ten technical sessions.

The conference was concluded on December 3 with a valedictory function held at Sir M V seminar Hall. It was presided over by Dr Ashok Rao, associate director-Research and Consultancy at MIT. Dr Nagesh Kini, co-founder, and chief technological officer of Vimano EWA Private Limited were present as the chief guest of the event on day two.

The National conference provided rich insight into different fields of physics such as materials for environmental sustainability, semiconductor devices, material characterization, crystal growth and characterization, spintronics materials, etc.
