Bengaluru: State government mulling to reduce electricity tariff hike?

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Dec 3: The energy department of state government is planning to reduce the electricity tariff from New Year.

A proposal in this regard is ready and it is expected that the unit price will be slashed from 75 paisa to two rupees.

Information is available that all electricity supplying companies are asked to reduce the consumer fee in the proposal that is submitted to KERC. The reduction is applicable not only to domestic users but HT, industrial, commercial and LT consumers also.

As the cross subsidy that was slapped on commercial users was causing irritation, they used to forsake the grid. So in order to retain HT consumers a new proposal is submitted under BESCOM limits and a new tariff structure is proposed, it is learnt.

The government is mulling to introduce a time based tariff for HT consumers. Plans are being made to reduce the rate for 11 hours in a day and give more discounts. It is said that a reduction of 75 paisa may be expected per unit from the present rate of Rs 6.60 per unit.

Energy minister Sunil Kumar said, “I had given instructions to concerned officials to take pro-people stand during revision of electricity tariff this time around. Accordingly preparations are made. The department is mulling to reduced user fee by curtailing unnecessary expenses.”

They must tell what is the increased amount and what is the reduced amount. How the increased cost calculated to reduce loss and how the reduced price calculated to no reduction in profit. The cost audit and loss transmission Audi is to be introduced
