Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 23,09,610 at Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru, Sep 28: Customs officials seized 461 grams of gold valued at Rs 23,09,610 from a male passenger at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Tuesday September 27.

The customs officials intercepted one male passenger hailing from Trivandrum, Kerala. He had arrived from Dubai and was trying to smuggle gold concealed in the form of a brown colour coated coil inside the motor of the mixer grinder.

After heating and removing the coating, the gold was formed into a rectangular bar of 24 carats, weighing 461 grams.

The gold was seized and further investigation is in progress.
