Fr Walter Lobo OCD (77), son of the late Bonaventure/the late Mary Lobo, brother of the late Fredrick/Leena, the late Michael/Lily, Justin/the late Jerome, Cyril/the late Vida, Sr Shalini Lobo (UFS), Victor Gerald/Whilma and Gracy/the late Charles, 21 nephew / nieces and 32 grand nephew / nieces, passed away on March 27, 2023.

Mortal remains will be brought to Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Mangalore for viewing after 2.00pm on Monday, April 1, followed by Mass at 3.00 pm.

Heartfelt condolences to all the members of Fr Walter's family. Fr Walter was an amazing priest who devoted his entire life in service to his community. He was a mentor and guide to so many of us. The calm he exuded stilled the worries of the people he interacted with. When I met him the last, when I visited the monastery, his calmness in the face of his personal suffering was inspirational. I will miss him. And so will everyone who has has the good fortune of knowing him. Dear Fr Walter, may you rest in peace.

We being his first cousins, our childhood was together, he was a leader/mentor for us. Dedicated worker, so Jesus had chosen him to do unceasing hard work in his various vineyards/churches. Very simple in everything- clothes, food, travel modes etc. We are in great sorrow that he left us all too early.We were in shock when he was diagnoised , God did not allow him to suffer more and i feel the tough life and suffering he had was required for his soul to remain close to Jesus's saints fleet. Father Walter's journey was one of compassion, faith, and unwavering dedication to his calling. Through his countless acts of kindness and guidance, he touched the lives of so many, leaving behind a profound impact that will continue to inspire us all. The passing away of Fr Walter Lobo is a huge loss for his family and the entire clan. We, his cousin Renee DSouza (nee Mendonca)'s children remember him with great fondness. His infectious smile, his simplicity as well as his noble philosophies far surpassed standard and fixed beliefs. They remain memories of a brave priest who was always welcoming of divergent ideas, who had the patience and the skill to explain them so aptly within the framework of Catholicism. Sad to learn about the demise of Fr. Walty. Given his serious ailment, I knew it would be a miracle if he survives but the Lord wanted to give rest to His faithful servant. His patience and equanimity in sickness was exemplary and edifying. My heartfelt condolences to all members of the bereaved family and his Carmelite brothers. All my dear Lobo Fly Members, Heartfelt condolences on passing away of our beloved uncle Rev Fr Walter Lobo. Uncle was a noble soul who fought his battle with the deadly disease until his last breath, but more than anyone Jesus wanted him in his heavenly kingdom. His love, unwavering dedication to his community, commitment towards serving the poor & downtrodden people are a true example, how he led his life on his earth. During my last visit in Nov,, He spoke about his work which were half done & his goal was to complete . Even though he was very ill , he never admitted so, he used to tell, I’m fine, nothing is wrong with me. I have never seen a person so positive & enthusiastic like Fr Walter. Thank you Fr for being an inspiration to many of us. Goodbye Fr. Rest in the arms of Jesus Christ. You will be dearly missed by all your dear fly members.
