Dr Fr Patrick Pais SVD (73), son of the late Rosario Pais and the late Margaret Pais, Kundapur, brother of the late William Pais, the late Frederick Pais, Violet Braganza and Arthur Pais, passed away on October 11, 2018 at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

He was an alumni of St John's Medical College, Bangalore.

Funeral on Saturday, October 13 at 10:30 am in Holy Spirit Church, Palda, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

I am saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Dr.Fr. Patrick Pais. He was both a committed medical doctor and a missionary. He used his medical profession to spread the word of God and bring people to Him. Just can't believe that his end came so soon. May his soul rest in peace.

A gentle soul and a committed missionary. True example of how the word of God could be lived. He saw Jesus in those least fortunate people of Bhagwanpur, Khandwa. He touched many lives and many people recognised Jesus through him. I got an opportunity to listen to one such testimony from a person during my visit to Indore. He told me how Fr Patrick touched his life and how his life got transformed after he put his faith in the Lord. In spite of being a doctor, he always put God's will ahead of his profession. He always felt for the poor and deprived people. When I voiced against the reservation system, he made me realise why it is still required in India. He made me to compare the privileges I had and the privileges those tribal people in a remote village had. He told me that with those facilities and malnutrition food and if they can score 35% it is equivalent to my 80% For him people of Bhagwanpur were his family.

His last wish was also to get better and go back to Bhagwanpur to serve the needy. But God's wish was different. He saw him tired, exhausted, not willing to retire. God wishes that he needs retirement before he turns 74, hence he called him to his heavenly abode. Let us pray for his vision and mission for Bhagwanpur. He is an inspiration to the next generation. Let there be many more doctors who come forward to serve in remote villages like Bhagwanpur. He will be greatly missed by both his family and friends.
