Udupi: Manipal-bound bus catches fire, occupants escape unharmed

Udupi, Feb 23: In an incident which happened at Manipal at around 4.30 am on Wednesday February 23, a bus went up in flames at Manipal.

The private bus in question was bound for Manipal from Ballari.

On account of a short circuit, the bus caught fire and turned into ashes, it us learnt.

The bus passengers had a providential escape. The driver and conductor of the bus too could move to safety before the bus turned into a ball of fire.

    These days we have seen many buses catching fire. This may be due to long term idle state during covid wave Proper inspection and preventive maintenance is required. This is necessary specially for wiring system as rats might have damaged them.

    Travel by government bus or train. These private buses were idle for almost two years now all the true colors of the private buses comes out. Really dangerous to travel by private buses.
