Mumbai: Court rejects doctor's plea for custody of daughter

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 14: A magistrate court rejected a doctor's plea for temporary custody of her five year old child. The court questioned how the child would be looked after while she was away at work. The applicant submitted that she is residing as a paying guest and she has obtained a house in a nearby locality and submitted a copy of the agreement on record.

However, the court questioned, while the applicant will be away at work, who will take care of the child?

Even though her enstraged husband was working, he living in a joint family would ensure the child is looked after, the court reasoned.

The woman had filed a domestic violence case against her husband and in laws while the husband had made allegations against his wife's character. She said that the couple was married in February 2010, and for about five to six months she was treated well. Thereafter, she was tortured physically and mentally.
