Udupi, Nov 25: A young lady from here has been suffering from polio. She was infected with poliovirus after she was born, which has left both her legs crippled. The girl had luck on her side. A youth working in Dubai volunteered to marry her. Their marriage was solemnised here.
This marriage stands out as an example to show that the people still value humanity. Suneetha has lost strength in both her legs. She has completed PU education, and was under the care of her parents. As he believed that like her legs, her future will also be listless. But the God who gifted her with polio, also opened her door of good luck in the form of Sandeep. Sandeep, employed in an oil company at Dubai, came forward voluntarily and offered to marry her. After both the families agreed, the two married on Monday November 23 at Karamballi Lord Venkataramana temple here.
There are many cases where hasty decisions have resulted in repentance and the couple have failed to go along. But the families believe that this couple will lead a harmonious and mutually rewarding life. Sandeep had decided in advance to accept as wife a girl with some sort of disability. He made queries about Suneetha through relatives and came forward with a proposal to marry her. Suneetha's family, which was under depression at the likelihood of the life of their daughter turning hellish, have gleefully accepted the fortune that has opened its doors for them.
Her elder brothers who gave Suneetha in marriage to Sandeep as per Hindu rituals, going by the expression in their faces, have experienced a sense of fulfilment and relief at having organised the marriage of their last sibling.
It may be noted that Suneetha did not seek pity or favour from others on the basis of her condition, nor is Sandeep proud at having married her and upholding the ideal. Both have never spoken to the media.
During the marriage, Sandeep could be seen supporting his wife at every stage. People who had gathered there blessed the rare couple with the best of everything for their mutually beneficial love life.
