Muthalik Files Complaint against Reporters
Belgaum, May 15 (Agencies) : Sri Rama Sene president Pramod Muthalik on Friday morning lodged a complaint with the Camp Police station here seeking investigation and action against the reporters (acting undercover) of Aaj Tak and magazine Tehelka for allegedly committing offences punishable under section 120B, 296, 298, 384, 504, 506 R/W Sec.149 of IPC, even as he demanded a public apology from Aaj Tak and Headlines Today TV channels for carrying allegedly concocted and false stories since Thursday.
Disclosing this at a press conference soon after lodging the complaint, Mr. Muthalik named the reporters as Pushp Sharma of Aaj Tak and editor of Tehelka Ajit Sahi. The names of the two journalists, however, are not mentioned in the complaint.
Police seeks CD
Meanwhile, the Bangalore police have asked Headlines Today and Tehelka for the compact disc of the video showing the alleged demand of Rs. 60 lakh by Mr. Muthalik and his associate for organising communal trouble in Bangalore.
Director General and Inspector General of Police Ajai Kumar Singh said a letter has been written asking for the compact disc. “We will go through the video and then take a decision,” Mr. Singh told The Hindu.
Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Friday told reporters that his government was ready to take action, if required, against Muthalik, depending upon the outcome of the investigations into the episode.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R.V. Deshpande sought dismissal of the Yeddyurappa government for its alleged support to Mr. Muthalik. He said such people had brought disrepute to Hinduism by harming women and minorities in the name of Lord Rama.
