Hyderabad, Nov 10 (IANS): The number of COVID-19 recoveries in Telangana outnumbered new cases in the last 24 hours as the state's overall tally increased to 2,52,455.
A day after the weekly drop in daily count of infections due to fewer tests, the numbers surged again on Tuesday.
According to Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, 1,267 new cases were detected. In the last 24 hours ending 8 pm on Monday, 1,831 patients recovered, taking the total such cases to 2,32,489.
Four more patients succumbed to the virus, taking the state's death toll to 1,385.
The state's fatality rate stands at 0.54 per cent as against the national average of 1.5 per cent.
Health officials said 44.96 per cent deaths were due to COVID-19 and 55.04 per cent due to comorbidities.
The recovery rate now stands at 92.09 per cent, slightly lower than the national average of 92.5 per cent.
Of the new cases, Greater Hyderabad accounted for highest 201, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (109), Rangareddy (104), Nalgonda (89), Bhadradri Kothagudem (85), Khammam (62), Karimnagar (53), Warangal Urban (45), Suryapet (42) and Nizamabad (40).
The state now has 18,581 active cases, of which 15,794 are in home or institutional isolation.
According to Health Department bulletin, 42,490 more samples were tested during the last 24 hours, of which 41,004 were conducted in government-run laboratories.
There are 18 government and 47 private laboratories conducting RT-PCR/CBNAAT/TRUENAT tests. There are also 1,076 Rapid Antigen testing centres run by government.
The cumulative number of tests rose to 46,84,766. Samples tested per million population surged to 1,25,866.
Out of total 2,50,331 positive cases so far, 70 per cent (1,76,719) were asymptomatic and 30 per cent (75,736) symptomatic.
The data shows that 63.92 per cent of total cases were aged between 21-50, 22.91 per cent aged above 51, while 13.18 per cent were below 20.
The bed status in 61 government-run hospitals treating COVID patients shows that 7,398 out of 8,561 beds are vacant. In 225 private hospitals, 6,963 out of 8,587 beds are vacant.
