Kaup, Oct 28: A woman got drunk in the afternoon, fought with her family members before slicing her throat with the help of a blade. The incident happened at Bantakallu Arasinakatte on Tuesday October 27.
The deceased was Prema (38), wife of Ramesh. She was a coolie by profession and mother of three.
After fighting with family members in drunken stupor, Prema had locked herself inside a room and lied down. At night, the family members called her to come out without any response. Later, they found that she had sliced her throat with a blade in an intoxicated state and had died. The family members carried the woman, who had already bled thoroughly, to the government hospital at Udupi but she was declared brought dead.
A report on the death was registered in Shirva police station.
