Bantwal, Oct 22: “Daily routine of children, local resources, community and experiences play a major part in the learning of children,” said Bengaluru’s India Foundation for the Arts organization, arts department programme officer, Krishnamurthy.

He addressed teachers and journalists in a discussion forum titled ‘children and education’ held at BC Road press club on Wednesday.

“Teaching without life skills amounts only to information. Besides that, several lessons learned in academics appear to be useless. We come to know social science if we think over language based on geography, changes of culture and food habits. The teaching methods in classrooms depending on local resources can bring about positive changes,” he said.

“The current education system is lagging behind in making life skills grow among students. The new national education policy 2020 has brought about new dreams. Let it become a reality,” he said.

He said that DSERT has joined hands for the empowerment of government schools while encouraging teachers and artists and explained the activities of the IFA organization.

Journalist and IFA grantee Mounesh Vishwakarma welcomed the gathering. Journalist Venkatesh Bantwal rendered the vote of thanks. Journalist Rathnadev Punjalkatte compered the programme.
