Mangaluru, Oct 17: "The sand shortage in the district of Dakshina Kannada is severe. BJP government is ruling in both state and centre. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has said that the administration will distribute sand at just Rs 2,000 per truck load. Through this he has cheated the public. By assurances of this nature Nalin Kumar Kateel has made the political leaders bow their head in shame," said former MLA Mohiuddin Bawa.

Bawa further said, "BJP MLAs are like actors in drama. No permission is being given for extracting sand. However, sand is being sold in black market without any restrictions. They create communal disturbances when the election time approaches.

"Poor people cannot afford to build houses. As the panchayat elections are nearing friction is happening. Let those, who accuse me, do so in front of me. People know the development work I have done when I was a MLA,” he said.
