Daijiworld Media Network - Kadaba (MS)

Kadaba, Sep 21: The auditorium work which the Noojibalthila gram panchayat started in the year 2015-16 under the Gram Vikas project of chief minister is still incomplete.

A grant of Rs 75 lac was released for the development of the village. Out of that, Rs 18 lac were marked for building the auditorium above the existing gram panchayat office of Noojibalthila. In addition, the interlock work that was supposed to be done in front of the gram panchayat office at a cost of Rs 2.5 lac is also pending.

Construction of pillar and walls of the auditorium for which KRDL has got the contract is complete. However, other works like concretisation and finishing are in an incomplete state. Sand, gravel and bricks which have been procured for the said work are lying in the compound of the gram panchayat office.

A complaint with regards to the incomplete work is given to Lokayukta. Concerned people are notified to complete the work as soon as possible under the leadership of members of Noojibalthila gram panchayat and zilla panchayat. The villagers are venting their anger against the concerned officials for not completing the work, the grant for which is released by the government for the development of the village.

PP Varghese zilla panchayat member said, "We have exerted pressure on the concerned people several times to complete the proposed project. In addition, we have also raised this matter with zilla panchayat. However, as there is no time limit for the work to complete it is getting delayed."

Ramesh Kumar engineer of KRDL said, "The work of the project is delayed due to the negligence of the contractor to whom the work was assigned. He has been given a week's time to begin the work. If he fails to do so, the work will be assigned to some other contractor."

You have to ask what is the logic or justification for an auditorium except to make money.
