Puttur: Rs 1 lac stolen from shop recovered, accused arrested

Puttur, Sep 16: Puttur rural police station personnel have arrested a person accused of stealing Rs 1 lac from a shop here.

The theft occurred in a shop at Matoshree complex, Tingalady, Kedambady village in the afternoon on September 14. A case was registered in Puttur rural police station, registration No 106/20 IPC Section 380.

The investigating team of Puttur rural police station, sub-inspector and staff, Uppinangady police station, Puttur rural circle office and DCIB division staff have arrested the accused, Mohammed Shafi (28) within 48 hours of the theft. The accused is a resident of Ilantila village in Beltangady taluk. The police recovered Rs 1 lac allegedly stolen by him and seized a motorcycle bearing registration number KA 21 U 6006 worth Rs 60,000 used by the suspect allegedly for the theft.

The suspect has a total of 12 cases pending against him in Beltangady, Puttur town, Vittal, Karkala rural police station, Udupi city and Mangaluru port police station.
