The lady had a valid ticket and was on her return journey. Her boarding had been cleared at the airport. It s now learnt that during the immigration clearance process, the CID police all of a sudden took her into custody.

The lady had informed her daughter from the Kuwait airport that her immigration clearance had encountered some hitch. Her daughter had later uploaded a video clip on social media in which she said that her mother was not available for contact through cellphone and sought help.

A few community leaders who followed up the case were told by the office that the woman was in the custody of the police.

The woman's daughter, who is concerned about the fact that there is no information why her mother has been detained, has got in touch with NRI Forum Karnataka former vice-president Dr Arathi Krishna. Arathi in return has established contact with the Kuwait embassy and requested them to address the issue and allow the lady to leave for her native place early, it is learnt.

Of late there’s information that the lady had been absconding and a complaint was filed against her. Such cases of absconding and subsequent complaints by unruly, inhuman employers are common in Kuwait. If there are no complaints other than absconding, the employer will be asked to withdraw his complaint and formally cancel her visa and allow her to travel out of Kuwait.

I had heard a similar story in Abu Dhabi a decade back where a woman was arrested at the airport while going back after cancelling her visa. The current employer got the news about the arrest, but couldn't find which jail she had been kept. She booked a taxi & kept on looking in all the jails in Abu Dhabi.
It was later found that the woman had started working for a new expatriate employer & the previous sponsor had complained to authorities that the woman is absconding, so they caught her at the airport while leaving for good.

People who are trying to tarnish her image should wait for the full details to come out. There are many possibilities,What if she had tried to escape from the house where she worked due to abuse or due to any other valid reasons ,in that case her sponsor can file an absconding case and hold her immigration process.

Most of the foreign countries specially in gulf countries.. Indians are treated like below grade ..not just because of their own fault or what they are...
It is because of Govt that… not taking the action against their own citizens when they mistreat on foreign land,,
Eg: Philippines is a very poor country but their Govt treating NRI with utmost respect when they mistreated on foreign land.. they swing into action...

It looks, the missing woman had some dispute with her employer & to create problem to her, they might have filed compliant.

We hope, issue will be resolved soon and she return home safely.

It is good to know that that missing Indian lady is found. It is unfortunate that she is in police custody in Kuwait. The reasons are not known and now Indian embassy in Kuwait should help her out and find out the reason. Hopefully, if everything goes on well she should be released and flown back to India.

What a sick mentality. She worked as a maid for 28 years of her life and her visa cancelled as per the procedures. How it come they did not caught her during visa cancellation? I strongly believe mistaken identity. Manhor, Mangalore, don't be judge and deliver your verdict at this age of her.

In Kuwait, I have heard this is a procedure when some one is caught at airport.

They take mobile phone of the accused and then the person becomes without contact.

This is a very bad procedure.

Who knows, against this woman, some false complaint may have been given by her employer. I bow my head in shame that even today, our sisters have to go to work as maids outside the country. Most of the households in Gulf, these women are treated as slaves. Hope, she will return to India safely.

According to some estimates, there are more than 500,000 Indian maids work in the GCC countries. One maid, who recently returned to India from Saudi Arabia told that she had worked for more than 18 hours a day without food and water. The employer and his family members used to beat her up for taking a water break. She was even subjected to sexual exploitation, she alleged, but she had opted to keep quiet for fear of her life.

Why our govt cannot open an employment exchange for these women with proper rules and guidelines, since there are plenty of jobs as maids in Indian cities.

    Santan I don't agree.
We need to accept the facts, I know in India also rich peoples don't treat maid properly and there is discrimination etc.

For your question why maids are going abroad this is due to men are not capable to provider food and shelter to ladies and everyone has a dream to live better life.

Yes...all the points what you have mentioned here is very true... Here, harassment is more. But, in some houses, maids are become stronger than the owners. 😆😆
