Mangaluru: Lions Club Ashoknagar celebrates Independence Day, Vanamahotsava

Mangaluru, Aug 19: “The Independence Day being celebrated by all groups of people is a public festival in a way,” said Kudroli ward corporator Shamshuddin, chief guest at the Independence Day celebrations held at Kudroli Narayanaguru Educational Institute premises of Lions Club, Mangaluru Ashoknagar and Narayanaguru Institute.

Lions club Mangaluru Ashoknagar president Prajwal Praveen Shetty who presided over and hoisted the national flag said that it is our responsibility to pray for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom and to inculcate in us their patriotism.

Saplings were planted within the college premises by the Lions Club after the programme. Saplings were also distributed to all the visitors with a request to plant them in their respective houses.

Narayanaguru High School headmistress Kusuma, Lions Club Ashoknagar former president, Babita Lokesh and office bearers were present.

The college principal, Dr Vasanth Kumar welcomed the gathering. Narayanaguru Educational Institute teachers sang local ballads and the National Anthem.
