Sullia, Jul 4: The Covid-19 test report of an elderly woman, resident of Keremoole of the taluk, who was admitted to the hospital at Mangaluru due to illness and died of heart attack, has turned out to be positive. With this the number of people died due to the dreaded disease has risen to 20 in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.

The deceased is a 60-year-old female from Sullia. She was suffering from high blood pressure, heart-related ailment, diabetes and pneumonia, and was admitted to Wenlock on July 2. She passed away on July 3. Her swab test was taken which turned positive on Saturday. 

At the same time, an elderly man, who got treated in Mangaluru hospital was admitted to the same ward as that of the deceased woman and coronavirus was confirmed in that elderly man.

Later, when the hospital carried out coronavirus tests on their employees, one of the nurses turned positive for the infection. The nurse was treating the deceased old woman also, it is learnt.

The elderly woman died even before her swab sample test report arrived. It is learnt that her last rites will be held in Mangaluru.
