Bengaluru: Bommai says Congress leaders to be booked for protest against fuel prices

From Our Special Correspondent

Daijworld Media Network

Bengaluru, Jun 29: On a day the Congress leaders in Karnataka staged massive protests in Bengaluru and across the state against the massive increase in fuel prices for 21 days continuously, home minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced that the police will file FIRs against Congress leaders who took out a cycle rally and staged a protest in Bengaluru on Monday without observing the social distancing norms.

Bommai told reporters in Bengaluru on Monday that FIRs would be registered against senior Congress leaders who violated the lockdown and social distance norms and staged a protest.

Asked about names of leaders to be included in the FIR, Bommai said, "You will come to know names of leaders. It will be in the public domain.’’

Despite the police denying permission, Congress leaders had staged the protest. The FIR would be filed under the State Disaster Management Act, he said. Hundreds of party leaders and workers participated in the protest. Senior leaders including KPCC president-designate D K Shivakumar, former chief minister and leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah, Rajya Sabha member Mallikarjuna Kharge and legislators participated in the cycle rally and staged a protest.

Leaders alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been pursuing 'anti-people' and 'anti-farmer' policies by frequently increasing fuel price.

The massive protests had also caused a traffic jam in the city for a while.

Mr. Moras, is Bejai a country for you?? If you want to live like a blind Bhakth, I have no problem.
The countries which are using EVMs are: India, Brazil, Namibia, Bhutan, Nepal and Philippines.
The countries which BANNED the EVMs are: United Kingdom, France, Netherlands, Germany, Australia and United States. BUT you are surprised about my poor knowledge.

Protest for increase in petrol prices is genuine. But to organize rally or cycle Jatha, you require permission. Those who lose the elections should not use excuses for defeat.Congress has won two Parliamentary elections with use of EVMs that also without VVpats. Now EVMs are more transparent.
For Congress and some other parties when they win EVMs are o.k.When they lose EVMs have problem. They talk about ballot papers. It is like saying that typewriters are better than Computers.
When the word emergency comes,it reminds us of the one imposed by Indiira Gandhi on the whole country to protect her chair and power.Since 1947 that is the only time when our rights were fully taken away.
It is disgraceful to rely on one family since Independence.

    T.A.Moras,

So many comments from you for the protest against the price rise of fuel which is effecting every citizen including you. No doubt permission is required whenever the protests are done. But we have a peculiar situation where permission may not be granted due to prevailing condition but protest is required as this government is in raising spree.

We have seen the ministers/elected representatives violating the guidelines and government has not taken any action. So here they want to take action because Congress protested against price rise of fuel. Rule should be applied equally. If no action there, why the action should be taken here.

You looks to be a qualified Andh Bhakt. Please read the history and find out which Indian family fought for Independent struggle for three generations? Who was in prison for 9 years and lost the quality life for the country. Who laid down their lives for the country? Who developed the country to become robust economy? You may get the answer if you read it without the distorted mind.

Now a simple question.... Modi, Shah or any leaders of BJP or their ancestors fought for the country during independence ? What is their contribution in the progress of the country?

Another question - If they are not able to develop the country leave it as it is? Why they destroyed the economy, Why they destroyed the secular fabric of the country? Why they are not able to protect the citizens?

Mr. Moras, I read your comment, rather sarcastic comment, with great interest. I have doubt about your knowledge about EVMs. You talked about typewriters and computers.
When one of the former PM tried to computerise the public sector, the same people who are talking about digital India opposed by coming out to the roads.
Can you point out to me ONE, only one developed country which uses the so called faultless EVMs.? I will never argue with you if you prove one developed country uses EVMs.
I think you lack knowledge about what was the actual reason for that emergency declared by Indira, you perhaps read the story in Nagpur University campus. It was not for the chair, because she had majority.
BTW, what are you talking about freedom? I thought it was dead and buried by 2016.

Are you elected to support people of ur state or country? Everyday increase in price, unnecessary burden on citizens and u sit and earn money as a minister and you get and ur family get enough fuel for free of cost from people money, when people want to vote for the right candidate there is all game tactics in EVM and just steal citizens vote, just protect one person in the country, it’s clear shows top leaders just protect themselves going to with law, wants to win anyway by Fake promises

The government cannot do anything in the case of migrant workers they made a mess. Same way Indians coming back home from Gulf are in hardship, in case of Mangalore overseas passengers cannot land due to mismanagement by the central and state Governments. The Central Government is totally confused.

During Congress rule CBI was called Congress Bureau of Investigation.During the rule of Congress every Government Agency was misused to harness and humiliated opposition leaders.Draconion emergency was imposed and whole country was converted into jail. What moral authority the party has to criticize others.Dynasty, misrule, lack of leadership, corruption and nepotism are responsible for the downfall of Congress.
Congress leaders find pleasure in criticizing our Army and Army Chief. They do not believe them and instead believe the statements of China and Pakistan. What a pity of the party which exists since 1947.
