Mapusa, Jun 1: The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has decided to waive off the rent of six months for all those shops coming under the municipality. Ryan Braganza chairperson of MMC stated that the proposal to waive for the same will be submitted to the directorate of municipal administration.

The council also discussed the revision of sopo rates and terms and conditions of the sopo contract at the meeting held on Friday. The sopo contract needs to be signed immediately so that it comes to force on June 1, added Braganza.

Councillor Sandeep Falari suggested that the market could be reopened by following the social norms, with a reduced number of vendors. He further maintained that pay-parking for two-wheelers could commence.
