Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB)

Udupi, May 30: Forty-five corona-positive patients were discharged after being cured from Dr TMA Pai Covid hospital on Saturday, May 30. The forty-five patients include 18 children and four police personnel, whose test report came negative.

Deputy commissioner D Jagadeesha said, “I would like to thank authority of KMC Hospital Manipal that they have given free of cost treatment for all Covid-19 patients with good facility. As many as 45 patients were discharged today from the hospital including 18 children. We presented gifts to build confidence among children. The team of KMC did a great job. The public need not to worry about corona. More than 95% of Covid patients are asymptomatic as they will not have any of symptoms.

“Henceforth, we will impose fine on those who are not wearing face masks. Anybody who commits mistakes repeatedly, will be booked under section 188. We need to maintain social distance in public place too.

“There are chances of people testing positive from quarantine. We have made all required arrangements to mark that area as containment zones. We will follow up that particular case, and will find out primary and secondary contacts,” he said.

On a query about people testing negative in second swab tests, the DC said, “We are taking second opinion to clear doubts. We cannot say it is the mistake of the lab. Once we get negative result in second test, we will follow government rules accordingly. We have conducted test of quarantined persons before releasing them from the center. If they get any symptoms during home quarantine, they should report it to the health department first.”

Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintend of KMC Manipal said, “We are glad that all patients are getting cured. Henceforth, our hospital will give first priority to the vulnerable group. There are two high risk people under ventilator support. One child is being treated here.”

The discharged children’s parents appreciated the treatment and hospitality given at Dr TMA Pai Hospital.

More than 150 staffs are working here in three shifts in Dr TMA Pai hospital Udupi.

Shashikiran Umakanth, nodal officer, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, KMC Manipal, Pradeep Kurudekar, tahsildhar, Udupi taluk, Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district health officer, Dr Prashanth Bhat, covid nodal officer, and others were present.

Youngsters fight the disease easyily whereas elderly with other ailments do not have that much immune system. I wonder why many people die in Maharashtra and America despite the disease less harmful to the healthy. Corona virus looks like less dangerous than assumed and feared by the world community but the scare is killing many I think.
