Mangaluru: Pregnant woman loses baby in quarantine - DC appoints committee to probe incident

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, May 29: Deputy commissioner Sindu B Rupesh has appointed an IAS officer-led inquiry committee to investigate the alleged negligence that has caused the death of an unborn child of a woman while she was placed under quarantine.

The nine-member team under the leadership of MESCOM managing director Snehal R has been formed after a complaint in this connection was filed by Aziz Bastikar, a relative of the pregnant woman. The DC has directed the committee to submit a report after verifying the veracity of the complaint.

Sindhu B Rupesh

The pregnant woman was airlifted from Dubai on May 12. She wanted to quarantine in her apartment after her first COVID-19 test was negative. However, the association denied her the entry. Therefore, her child died in her womb as the woman was not able to avail suitable medical treatment. Her family members have accused the health department of negligence in her treatment.

When district administration had announced that if a test report of pregnant lady is negative they can go for home quarantine then why permission need from apartment association.

Giving mental harrassment to pregant woman is not a act of humanity.

May Allaah give patience and strength to the lady and their family.

If the apartment belonged to her and the association blocked her entry into the flat, then the association is guilty.
Why didn't the woman or her relatives call the police ? or the press?
There were many smart women in the flight who called the press for not having a porter to carry their luggage!!!

Jossy, Mumbai. Don't pass on your comments sitting at Mumbai. Are you aware the formalities to delivery baby in Gulf Country? Because of official procedure and huge cost involved, (if insurance is not covered) and after deliver, taking care of mother and baby all is there my dear. That's why pregnant prepare to travel back home country to be with parent and homely surrounds to have mental peace. Her all dreams shattered due to some rough society members and doctor who promised to take care. First check the society registered under society of registered.? If not, the society it isf is illigeal.

People from our country are conjus. They don't want to do medical test at gulf to save money. And unnecessarily take risk of travelling in this critical situation. And anything goes wrong entire blame will be on Govt. This is not right.

How cruel people... !!! My goodness...can't imagine... that too full term pregnant and no entry in to her own flat....??????!!!! Shameful behavior.... Why you all pray to invisible god when god appears in front of in various forms. ??? You all kick him...god doesn't see beauty, dress, style and ego... He sees your humanity....he sees your good act and reward you accordingly... . In that building association ..members must be educated, experienced and senior citizens right?? How you all treated your wives when they were pregnant ? Very shameful.... Please do transparent inquiry... ..take proper legal action.... no bribe and all... 😡😡😡

Cynthia Kirem,I read in someones comment she was not full term pregnent but only 5months.I am not sure.no where it is mentioned.First of all full term pregnents are not allowed to travel without doctors certificate.till 7months is allowed. This has become a big issue now but without giving any explanation from official side.Of course I do understand loss of baby at any stage a very sad experience for first time pregnent lady and heartbreaking for family.bad that medical persons also not helped her is another disappointment. She shouldnt loose hopes.she will certainly be blessed soon with a sweet baby again.Only now must be cleared first what was the reason .On that depends the cause.

... building association which denied the entry for its resident should be fined no more than Rs one crore and a minimum jail term for its members. If this is implemented no other building associations will think of behaving in 'uncivilized' way.

Building associations are becoming a law unto themselves. No bachelors ad tenant, no animals, how can they deny entry for a Covid 19 negative tested person . They must be fined heavely.

It is more than unfortunate that some of the Apartment committees are preventing residents from entering the apartment complex for any reason. Management committee of an apartment has no powers under the law of the land to stop a resident from going into his own apartment, to stop maids / electricians etc from entering into anybody's flats unless the local authority specifically grants such a permission to the apartment association.

Like I said earlier, losing our humanity is many time worse a decease than the corona virus. And yes, I practice what I preach.

This pandemic situation is the ultimate character test.
Brave people will shine and cowards will be exposed.

An earlier article by Daijiworld mentioned that people who did not allow them to apartment are retired and Senior Police Officers, and Doctors were not ready to check her after testing -ve once.

They are always ready to take bribes? and collect high fees?
How many more innocent people will have to die for everyone to wake up?

Also I see fault in the hospital which was first approached. If they could not take in the mother, then they shud have been given correct advice and referred to wenlock where arrangement for such patients are done, considering the circumstances.
Times like this patient party must be willing for any hospital and cannot look for comfort.

Shame on the members of the apartment association of the mother. They have blood on their hands. Classic example of failed education.
Shud give police complaint against. Once such people become association members they think they turn into some landlords. They must be arrested by law
