Mangaluru, May 23: A retired section officer of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (Mescom), Medappa (78), killed himself by jumping into a well on Friday May 22. He was residing near Bharat Benz showroom at Kolnadu on national highway near Mulky, which is located within Chelairu gram panchayat.
It is said that Medappa committed this act out of his frustration with life. He was ill since the last some days. On Friday morning, even as his family members looked on, he suddenly jumped into the well. They immediately arranged to bring him out, and rushed him to hospital. But by then, he had breathed his last.
A case of unnatural death was registered at Mulky police station. Medappa had worked in various places including Mulky office of Mescom. He had headed a few branches.
