Mumbai, Apr 6: Ronald D’Mello (60), hailing from Kemmanagundi, Karkala in undivided Dakshina Kannada district passed away in Riddi Vinayaka Multi Specialty hospital, Nallasopara here, on Sunday, April 5, due to coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

He was employed in prestigious Taj Mahal Palace hotel, Colaba for the last 40 years as captain. He had celebrated his 60th  birthday on March 24. He was to retire at the end of April in another 26 days. He was suffering from kidney ailment for the last several years and was under dialysis in hospital. But he had gone for dialysis to Riddi Vinayaka hospital last week due to lockdown. As he was found to be infected by coronavirus, he was shifted to isolation ward immediately. However, he died without responding to treatment. The officials conducted his final rites on Sunday night.

He has left behind wife Karkala Attur based Marita D’Mello who serves as director of Model bank, and two sons. Their older son is conducting higher studies in Australia and the younger son was staying with his mother. Marita D’Mello was staying in the hospital to look after her husband. As per directions from local senior officials and medical officers, the two are under quarantine at home.

Ronald was a member of Vasai Konkani Association and was down to earth. He was well known as donor for noble causes and social worker. Model bank executive president Albert W D’Souza, founder president John D’Silva Karkala, board of directors and Vasai Konkani Association office bearers have expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased.

According to guidelines, D’Mello was cremated within hours after his death by government authorities. It was more sorrowful for the family members as they were not allowed to see the deceased for the last time following the rules. The Centre has framed guidelines for handling bodies of those who die of coronavirus, as it could spread among those handling the same.

I wonder how to depend on the CORONA test results; how many false positives & negatives, God only knows?

Since CORONA is a mutation of SARS, which is closely related to influenza (flu) virus, could it be possible that people suffering from some strain of influenza too could show positive results with the available kits?

    RIP.

Heavenly consoling prayer for the needy and to their loved ones,

Jesus' message to Maria Divine Mercy.

"If you have to face death or if a loved one has to face death then always turn to Me, your Jesus, to help. When you do I will lift you in spirit, wipe away your tears, banish all fear from your hearts when you recite this prayer."

Crusade Prayer (142) Preparing for death
My dearest Jesus, forgive me my sins. Cleanse my soul and prepare me to enter Your Kingdom.
Grant me the Graces to prepare for my unification with You. Help me to overcome any fear.
Grant me the courage to prepare my mind and my soul, so that I am fit to stand before You.
I love You. I trust in You. I give You myself in body, mind and soul for eternity. Let Your Will be mine and release me from pain, doubts or confusion. Amen.

RIP brother! Sorry to hear this.

He had taken to hospital for dialysis & discovered Corona Virus. Horrible!

I don't trust these test kits as well as microbiology testers. They have diagnosed him in a wrong medication, couldn't tolerated by his body.

Here is an example: my dad is 82, a diabetic patients. He was doing good with his pills. One fine day, his left leg got swollen and turned red.
I had rushed him to the medium sized hospital at UDUPI, did his blood sugar count at around 9.30 am. sugar level was 240( random). Doctor asked me to keep him in the hospital for further observations but I have decided to take him to Dr T M A Pai UDUPI immediately.

Again, these guys did the same test at around 11.30 am, blood report showed with a new number 650...but my dad was able to walk and speak. They have put him under different pills.

Funny part is - 240 count at 9.30 am & 650 at 11.30 am on the same day!

Tell me now whom to trust...whom to believe and which report???

You are right,During dialysis something really gone wrong.Dialysis using catheter is proved risky. We family members are clueless. He did not complain breathing problems or he was in ventilator, except omitting due to high creatine thus admitted for dialysis. In India human life has no value. RIP uncle Roney we miss u.

theses hospitals use low cost/china made medical equipment be it sugar checking equipment or other medical equipment. this is the reason each hospital when u check up different result you get. no standard parameter is fixed for medical equipments in india.
