PM Modi asks Indians to light candles for 9 mins at 9 pm on April 5 to end 'darkness' of coronavirus

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (SHP)

New Delhi, Apr 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the ninth day of lockdown lauding the discipline and restraint shown by the Indians. He also appreciated the efforts of the health workers and the government of different states who have stepped into action to deal with the pandemic.

"I request all of of you to switch of all the lights of your house on April 5 at 9 pm for 9 minutes, and just light a candle, 'diya', or mobile's flashlight, to mark our fight against coronavirus. This Sunday we have to challenge the COVID-19 pandemic, we have to introduce it to the power of light," PM Modi said in an address to the nation.

"We have to take Mahasankalp (the supreme oath) by 130 crore citizens to new heights. I want your 9 minutes at 9 p.m. on April 5," Modi added.

"Switch off every light in the house, reach to your main gate or balcony and light a candle, diya, torch or your mobile's flash for 9 minutes," Modi added.

"The way you greeted and appreciated the coronavirus fighters on March 22 was exemplary; everyone everywhere is trying to emulate you. You have shown to the world that an entire country can unite and fight against a crisis like this. Now that everyone is locked in at home, many would be feeling alone and wondering what they could do alone. It is true that we are at home and under a lockdown but we are not alone, he said. We, 130 billion people, are all in it together, and we must recognise this," the PM said.

As of now, the cases in India has crossed the 2,000 mark with over 50 deaths.

Earlier on Thursday, the Prime Minister held a meeting via video-conference with all the chief ministers of different states over measures to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown. In the meeting he stressed on the strategy of 'testing, tracing, isolation and quarantine'. He also sought suggestions from states on ensuring a staggered exit from the current 21-day lockdown. He said that the Centre and states needed a common exit strategy from the lockdown.

We have these Covid-19 cases counter on all TV channels - why can't we have a daily update on the fund value ? (shouldn't be so hard - available on internet banking)

It is another trial test. Once he had tested people's support for him by asking to clap yo hands. Now once again he is testing by asking to light candles. If media shows mass support for him then get ready for another disaster. Quarantine means keeping the infected person separate from other healthy person. But he called for total lock down. It is against personal freedom and against democracy.

Souza..April 5th is Vamana Dwadashi. On that day the earth gets maximum light from sun and this empowers disease causing viruses. The virus is a evil entity and it thrives in darkness. One way to destroy such evil entites is to focus light on it. Either in Astronomy...Astrology...or in Algebra no match for indians.

    Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya |
    Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya |
    Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya |
    Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih ||

As per Veda and Upanishad the existence which we perceive through 5 senses is very limited and true only for this dimension so this is Maya or not real Asat. So the prayer says to take me to the level of consciousness where I see the Sat which is called Bramha or Energy or God . Hence Asato maa sat gamaya. To realize this we light the diya in darkness.

The idea is clear and comes from a religious as well as scientific bent of mind...
Ringing of bells ,the sounds are scientifically proven to drive away kill bacteria.
The importance of Agni,Fire too as ' Jyoti ' to drive ,ward of darkness has been ackmowlwdged by all scriptures.
So there you have it by our all knowing PM.
There of course may be some who may not do it for they do not like him or whatever he says ! Arre...He is not saying it for himself...He is saying it for yourself....and stressing the importance of Collective Prayers !!See the fate of Super Power America ,UK,Italy and Spain ! Maybe in economy things have not gone in the right direction...but let's not mix issues...Our Government has done a tremendous job in controlling the epidemic...much much better than other countries...
Psychologically these acts of clapping, or lighting candles helps cos it is one united cause and we will not be alone...
Instead of critical thinking... please let usal understand that this has not happened before so the government are also of people...they are trying their best...
Most of all what each can do is just pray for the government and people that God may give strength and wisdom...
God bless our country and each one great or small.

It's OK with religion and scriptures, but when it comes to science, you are 'bending your mind' way too much I'm afraid.

It's only ultrasonic sound that's capable of killing certain bacteria and the sound emanating from Ghanti and Thaali aint ultrasonic.

Also there's a clear difference between bacteria and virus, whilst the latter can't survive without a host body, the former can and Covid 19 is caused by virus and not bacteria.

This is the core problem dude, you know he's clueless about the country, economy, the pandemic and literally anything else. Makes every single thing about himself. Even most of us know that he'll win the next election. What does it prove, it only confirms people's mindset. Only going to sink the country, his followers will vote for him and his party because of religion and caste, that's it. Even knowing that he's taking the country down. In other words it's called suicide.

"switch of all the lights of your house on April 5 at 9 pm for 9 minutes" why not on April 9th?
Increase the frequency of "Monkey baat" "video message" and bajao taali aur thaali.

Keep giving speeches and not to worry to provide protective gears to healthcare workers. No proper plan in any decision but ask the people to donate, light candles, and beat drums and follow Curfew rules. No need to provide food, accommodation, transport for citizens.

    Dear Ashok,

Stop complaining. 1st understand that India is a developing country with 2nd largest population in the world. So Modi alone cannot give all the facilities. Rather please support him since he clearly mentioned that the plan on 5th April was just emotional support for those who are quarantined or isolated. Because of few irresponsible groups COVID-19 is spreading throughout the country and the rest are suffering. Had every individual have taken self initiative we would not have had to see this day. So stop blaming MODI. This is easy said than done.
