Udupi: Rape of three-year-old - Man gets 20 years jail term

Udupi, Feb 14: Holding a senior citizen guilty of raping a three-year-old girl from Nejar in the taluk, the district chief and sessions court judge, C M Joshi, awarded 20 years rigorous imprisonment to the accused. The judgement was delivered on Thursday February 13.

Palani, also from Nejar, was also directed to pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 to the girl as per the judgement.

The girl was walking towards the Anganwadi on the morning of October 3, 2018, when he had raped her. The then investigating officer Seetharam, had registered the case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and filed charge sheet in the court. Special public prosecutor Raghavndra Y T had presented the case of the prosecution in the court.
