Mangaluru: Fake message on Coronavirus on WhatsApp – College files complaint

Mangaluru, Feb 14: Regarding a fake vulgar Whatsapp message being circulated about Coronavirus at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management here, principal of the college R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, has requested Cyber Crime, Economic offences and Narcotics to take action against the culprits.

The principal has shared a screenshot with the police. The message reportedly said ‘Sahyadri College campus officials have confirmed a case of Coronavirus within the student community’ with a link. A pornograhic image would appear if one clicks the link. The college came to know about the message on Thursday morning after it appeared on a few WhatsApp groups.

The principal spoke to media and said that no case of Cronovirus has been reported at the campus. He has requested the police to look into the matter and stop the circulation of the message immediately and also to take suitable action against the persons involved.
