Mangaluru, Dec 10: Patla Sathish Shetty, who has a strong fan following, and who also is involved with philanthropic activities, had recently been dropped from the position of Bhagawath of Kateel Yakshagana Mela. The mela management had said that Sathish had been informed in advance about being dropped, and cited his activities which seemed like siding with some rebel artistes of the mela as reasons for its decision to drop him. But, Patla had asserted that he was not informed about the decision to oust him and that he was unceremoniously asked to leave the Rangasthala abruptly without any advance information.

Patla had approached the state high court questioning his removal from the mela. During the hearing on Monday December 9, the high court asked both the sides to settle the issue through mediation.

Advocate on behalf of the mela placed before the single judge bench presided over by Justice Veerappa the reasons for denying the famed Bhagawath a chance to continue as an artiste of Kateel mela, while the advocate for Patla placed his side of the arguments. After hearing both the sides, the judge asked Patla Sathish Shetty and trustees to hold conciliatory talks and settle the issue amicably during the next hearing.

The advocate for the trustees brought to the notice of the bench that dialogue had been held in the presence of the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district in this regard between both the sides.
