Bantwal, Dec 3: The acquisition of land for B C Road – Addahole four lane highway was delayed along with the works as the places through which the highway passes was not finalized. But the national highway authority has begun payment of fixed amount to the owners of the land and the process is completed up to 90%.

The development of BC Road- Hassan highway was taken up by NHAI three years ago. But there were confusions regarding the way the highway proceeds in Kalladka.

Finally, the highway authority decided to construct fly over and began payment of compensation to the land owners who have lost their land.

Rs 28 crore for 1.2 kilometres

The highway authority in Kalladka has identified six survey numbers in Golthamajalu gram panchayat limits and 16 survey numbers in Balthila gram panchayats. Rs 28 crores are fixed for 1.2 kilometre limits. There was confusion as there was difference between the amount fixed in the initial stages and the final payment.

Forty-five meter acquisition was decided in Kalladka also before deciding on flyover and survey was conducted. But the acquisition was reduced by 2.5 meter due to the flyover later. Most of the land and buildings came under safe zone reducing the land value and causing confusion.

Delay in flyover

Tender worth Rs 821 crore was issued in 2017 for development of 65 kilometres highway between B C Road and Addahole. But at present, the earlier tender stands curtailed. NHAI says that it will be past September 2020 by the time the process is completed and work begins. Though there is no connection between national highway works and Kalladka flyover tender, the commencement of flyover is likely to be delayed.

Manjunath, special land acquisition officer, NHAI Hassan, B C Road division said that payment of compensation was delayed as alignment was not finalized in Kalladka. “Land owners who produced land records have already been paid fixed value and 90% of the process is over,” he said.
