Udupi: Children’s Day celebrated at St Mary’s English Medium School Kannarpady

Udupi, Nov 14: The day was Celebrated as Children’s Day to commemorate the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. Nehru being a good statesman was immensely fond of children. He used to consider children as the future of the nation and he always wished that his birthday would be celebrated as Children’s Day.

This special day was celebrated on November 14, at St Mary’s English Medium school (CBSE), Kannarpady, with great zeal. Merrymaking started in an energetic and special way. The programme started at the St Mary’s auditorium formally where SPL, ASPL and class representatives beautified the stage by occupying the seats reserved for them. Teacher’s choir invoked the blessings of the Almighty. Fr Johnson Sequeira formally welcomed the students who were the center of attraction of the day and others gathered in the auditorium.



Fr Valerian Mendonca correspondent, St Mary’s Educational institutions, who was the guest of the day gave his message on the occasion by teaching a song to the students and wishing them all the best for their future. Atheeth, SPL spoke about the significance of the day. Children who won the prizes in the lucky games conducted on the occasion were honoured with prizes by the correspondent.

After the formal programme, teachers presented a beautiful and meaningful cultural programme to entertain students by giving them valuable messages to be followed in life. Pre primary teachers trainees performed a beautiful dance. A fashion show on the theme Brides of India, Indian folk dance, a thematic dance on valuing relationships not the gadgets, a drama on school life was also performed by the teachers wherein teachers showcased their talents to make this day a happy and memorable one.

On the whole the programme given by the teachers was liked by the students and they enjoyed it the most. Bharathi proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was well coordinated by Rajashree. The whole programme was systematically planned by Fr Johnson Sequeira, principal of the school and well executed by the support of vice principal Rita Quadros.
